Protected by design

Built for ransomware, deletion mistakes, hardware failure, and recovery pressure.

Downtime and data loss cost real money. NerdTeks designs backup around your workflows, retention needs, access controls, and recovery objectives so your data is available when the business needs it most.

Advanced encryption & privacy

Backup data is protected with strong encryption during transfer and while stored. Access is controlled with unique credentials, password change workflows, and MFA support for customer logins.

Local, cloud, or hybrid strategy

Protect endpoints, servers, virtual machines, Microsoft 365, and business-critical files with storage options that can include secure cloud storage, on-premise storage, and hybrid destinations.

Versioning & rapid recovery

Restore a single file, recover a previous version, or plan for larger system recovery when a device fails, ransomware hits, or a user deletes the wrong folder.

Monitoring-ready operations

Self-service accounts can upgrade into managed backup with alert review, backup checks, restore testing, and NerdTeks help when compliance or recovery risk is higher.

Policy-based onboarding

The next layer is industry-specific backup policy automation.

NerdTeks can map each new account to the right storage, retention, access, and restore-testing policy instead of treating every business the same.

Healthcare

HIPAA-aligned safeguards, MFA guidance, defined retention, restricted access, and documented recovery planning.

Legal & finance

Client file protection, retention support, immutable storage options, audit-friendly access controls, and restore readiness.

Engineering & project teams

Large-file backup planning for drawings, project folders, accounting systems, and long-running client archives.

Small business operations

Simple endpoint protection, predictable storage caps, secure user provisioning, and fast help when a restore is needed.

Frameworks we design around

Security language your leadership, auditors, and clients already recognize.

Compliance depends on your full environment, policies, and documentation. This backup platform is designed to support the technical safeguards and control families commonly expected in regulated business environments.

NIST Cybersecurity Framework

Supports Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover with backup inventory, access controls, monitoring, and recovery planning.

CIS Critical Security Controls

Aligns with secure configuration, access control, data recovery, audit visibility, and ransomware resilience practices.

HIPAA Security Rule

Helps healthcare organizations support availability, integrity, access control, and contingency planning safeguards.

FTC Safeguards / GLBA

Supports protected information safeguards for financial, accounting, legal, insurance, and service businesses.

SOC 2 Trust Services support

Encrypted backup, monitoring, alerting, restore workflows, access control, and retention can support Security, Availability, and Confidentiality control evidence. Formal SOC 2 readiness still depends on the full audit scope, policies, people, vendors, and procedures.

PCI DSS support

Hosted Authorize.Net checkout keeps card entry with the payment processor, reducing payment data exposure for the backup signup flow.

FINRA / SEC retention support

Retention and restore planning can help regulated firms preserve access to critical business records.

3-2-1 backup practice

Layer local, offsite, and cloud storage options with restore testing and immutable storage options where needed.

AI-assisted support

A backup assistant customers can actually talk to.

Customers can ask plain-English setup, backup alert, storage vault, MFA, billing handoff, or restore-prep questions. The assistant remembers the last few messages in the current chat, asks for useful details, and makes it clear when NerdTeks should review the issue.

Short history recall Follow-up questions keep the recent conversation in context.
NerdTeks assistant

Tell me what you are trying to do. I can help with first device setup, agent install issues, backup warnings, storage vault choices, MFA timing, or when to contact NerdTeks.

You

My first backup shows a warning. What should I check?

NerdTeks assistant

Keep the device online. Check recent password, permission, file path, app, firewall, VPN, or internet changes. If this is a server, database, Microsoft 365, ransomware, or restore issue, contact NerdTeks before changing protected data.

I cannot accept passwords, MFA codes, credit card numbers, or sensitive client data. For urgent restores, ransomware concerns, or account access issues, contact NerdTeks support right away.

Setup guides

Clear steps for getting protected after checkout.

Customers should know exactly what happens next: install the agent, sign in, choose what to protect, complete the first backup, then secure the account with MFA and understand when backup health alerts need attention.

01First backup checklist

Confirm the device name, operating system, protected folders, storage estimate, and first backup window.

02Install the backup agent

Download the agent from the customer portal, sign in with backup credentials, and register the first device.

03Choose what to protect

Select files, folders, business apps, Microsoft 365 data, or server workloads based on the plan and risk profile.

04Enable MFA after setup

Use an authenticator app after the first device is signed in and the first backup is verified.

05Backup health alerts

Failed or missed backup alerts should include the device, error, last success time, and any recent password, permission, path, app, firewall, or internet changes.

06Request a restore

Provide the device, file path, date/time needed, restore destination, urgency, and whether ransomware or accidental deletion is involved.

Automatic provisioning

Successful payments can create the backup user, apply device quotas, and create one customer storage vault.

First-backup checkpoint

The account is not treated as fully protected until the first selected backup completes and the customer knows how to read backup status.

Backup health notices

Failed-job reporting can notify the customer and NerdTeks support so missed backups can be reviewed before they become restore problems.

Q&A

Questions customers ask before trusting a backup platform.

Is the data encrypted?

Yes. Backup data is protected with strong encryption in transit and at rest, and access to the backup account is controlled with unique credentials. Encryption and retention settings can be reviewed during onboarding for higher-risk environments.

Can we turn on MFA?

Yes. Customer accounts support time-based one-time password MFA from the customer portal. MFA helps protect portal access, desktop app access, and new device registration; scheduled backup jobs still run unattended by design. NerdTeks recommends enabling MFA after the backup agent is signed in and the first backup is verified, because the desktop app requires the authenticator code once MFA is enabled.

Can ransomware delete our backups?

Backup design can include offsite copies, version history, retention rules, and immutable storage options. That combination helps preserve clean restore points even when a workstation or server is compromised.

Will we be notified if backups fail?

Backup accounts can send status and failed-job reports to the customer email and NerdTeks support when reporting is enabled. If an alert appears, keep the affected device online and share the device name, error message, last successful backup time, and any recent password, file path, permission, app, firewall, or internet changes.

Can we add more devices, servers, virtual machines, NAS backups, Microsoft 365 users, or storage later?

Yes. Customers can request plan changes from the secure setup dashboard. NerdTeks reviews upgrades, downgrades, billing, protected devices, server image backups, Hyper-V, VMware, NAS/network shares, storage limits, and retention impact before applying changes so active backups are not accidentally disrupted.

Do you offer annual billing?

Yes. Annual prepay saves 15% across the selected plan and add-ons. Annual changes are reviewed before billing and renewal settings are updated.

Do you support healthcare, legal, finance, and engineering firms?

Yes. The service can be planned around HIPAA, FINRA/SEC retention expectations, FTC Safeguards, SOC 2 control support, and internal client requirements. Formal compliance still depends on your complete environment and policies.

Do you store credit card numbers?

No. Cards are entered through Authorize.Net hosted checkout, so payment data is handled by the payment processor and is not stored by NerdTeks.

What happens after payment?

The account is queued for provisioning with the selected storage, device limits, and policy. Customers receive a secure setup dashboard link plus backup console credentials, install the agent, sign in to the backup console or agent, change the temporary backup password, choose protected data, and run the first backup. The first successful backup is the checkpoint before relying on the account for recovery; MFA should be enabled after that device is connected and verified.
